Welcome
Whangamata is on the southeast coast of the Coromandel Peninsula in the North Island of New Zealand. It is located roughly 30 kilometres north of Waihi, to the north of the Bay of Plenty.
There are a number of islands that can be seen from the beach, Clark Island can be accessed when there is a low tide, most of the summer months this area is very popular for Kayaking and rock diving. Donut Island is almost a kilometre east of the southern area of the beach at Whangmata.
Auckland airport and the airport at Hamilton are almost 2 hours drive
from the apartment and Whangamata. Regular public transport services to
and from Auckland and Hamilton are available each day of the week.
Car rental
services are also available from the airports,
most of the major companies provide an excellent alternative to the bus.
The town actually has two popular beaches, both these beaches are safe and good for swimming and other water sports. Boating areas are at both the north and south ends of the harbour. The harbour area is also good for swimming and is very well liked by families.
Whititoa beach is 20 minutes drive southward from the apartment, further north you have the beaches of Opoutere and Onemana.
Clubs, bars and restaurants and a number of hotels are numerous here and they are able to provide good meals and refreshments and have regular entertainment for guests and visitors.
